Often times users of segmentation algorithm would like to visualize segmentation output superimposed on top of

the input image. This class is perfect for that purpose. The filter applies a colormap to a label image (possibly a

segmentation algorithm output) and overlays it on top of the input gray level image. The author has also provided a

good selection of distinct colors for plotting overlays.  In general, the implementation adherse  well to the ITK code style standard

except few code style issues such as missing copyright header, inappropriate test filenames etc

 

 

 

 

 

Summary:
This paper propose a new ITK class for superimposing labels onto an image.
Very nice work! well implemented!

Reproducibility:
The code compiled and run without any issues using CMake 2.2.3, ITK cvs as of 04/24/06 and Visual Studio 8.0 express.

Code Quality:
The code is very well written. Couple of style issues that should be fixed later when the code is moved to CVS.

a) ITK Header is missing in both header and txx files

b) Function documentation is weak in .txx file

c) Why GetLabelImage() is not returning a const image?


Suggestions for future work:
- GetLabelImage() function should return a const image.

- I had to refer to the code to test the example it would have been nice to have a couple of usage cout in the file.

- A regression test will be needed for full coverage in ITK. Images are already there with the example, this is really just a matter of turning it into a test.

This is a very useful class and a nice contribution.
